The Truth

He does not know you anymore.
Years ago he kindly released you
into the world
of the brave and free spirits.

He got tired of chasing after you
and playing headcount games.

He was young.
You knew better.

He thought he knew
what was best for himself.
But, he didn’t.
He didn’t listen to
the voices talking behind his back.
He didn’t take responsibility for his part.

Things were good,
back then, it was all he knew.
Yes, he still reflects back
to that timeframe once in while;
it’s imprinted in his brain.

But the truth is:
it was all a lie.
You were married
and he was the man on the side,
the one you came to
when your husband
got you cheating mad.
