Thankful Every Day

Every day is a day of thanks.
In my direction, there’s no shortage of blessings.

Conditioned to see the bad before the good.
That was the past mistakes
of many generations before me.

I’m thankful every day for the gift of life,
not just on this pagan holiday.

On The Other Side

Watching with awe
as others live
their version of their lives.

I’m just a stranger
looking in from the outside;
but it sure looks finger-looking good
on that brightly lit
side of the street.

Beautiful Mess

A beautiful mess,
that is the sum of my life.
Everything is as it should be.
Though the majority of the time,
it is not enough for my acquired taste…
On the real.
I can’t really complain,
I got it better than most though.
Not to boast, no way,
just recognizing and appreciating my blessings.

Today Was A Good Day

Today was a good day.
Can’t complain at all.
So much to be thankful for.
Another humbling experience.
It’s the little things,
the uncomplicated things,
that I appreciate the most.
Like seeing the smiles on
my children’s faces
after a long day at work.

A Humbling Reminder

I’m not better than you
and you’re not better than me.
Because of who I am and how I was raised,
I’ve never been one to place myself on a pedestal
and I refuse to flaunt my blessings in your face.
Truth is: you never know
which way the wind might blow.
Just as quickly as things come,
they can be easily taken away,
with absolutely no explanation.
