Not Close-Knit

I used to be the one
to keep the family together. It made me
feel good knowing how close we stuck together.
But as time pass by, I realized
everyone became too occupied with their lives
to bother with keeping track
of everyone else’s choices, so I left it alone.
We communicate when life permits
and notice each other’s absence when
select times of the year rolls around,
and that’s that.
