I used to spend time chasing after
someone else’s dream. Whenever I attempted
to imitate their lifestyles, I would experience
this temporary high; it felt good to live
“in the heat of the moment.” The beautiful things they had
captured my eyes. My sorry attempt at “living.”
“Keeping up with the Joneses” is the popular route to go,
but they were always ahead of the game. I tried.
And I cried but their blessings I could not claim as my own.
