Just Another Story

My father abandoned his children,
and my mother didn’t raise me
after a certain age. She gave me
up for adoption, and from there,
her parental rights ended.

Now parentless, at 12 years old,
I went to live with relatives — it was a mess.
Things didn’t go according to my dream.
Instead, I felt all alone; I didn’t think I’d make it
out alive but look at me now. I was just another
lost gem, another one in a million story.
