For The Wrong Reasons

Because of loneliness,
someone had to be used.
Ultimately, it didn’t matter who it was.

Because of selfishness,
honesty was the last priority.
It had to be that way, or else.

Because of the past,
misery and bitterness
became the go-to accessories.

Because of this or that shortcoming,
something negative had to happen
to satisfy the shortage of love received.
