It’s the truth rolling off their tongues
when they speak; they fire darts
like gunshots, words spoken
from the heart disguised as bad days,
ask most people if they’re happy,
and there’s usually some hesitation.

It’s that time again, the beginning
of a new year, a closer relationship
with God, my family, and friends is my
main resolution; I long to know
who I am in Christ Jesus;
everything else will fall into place.
