A Simple Prayer

Heavenly Father, please teach me how to
pray and how to humble myself before You.
Please teach me how to love those around me,
those I can see every day so I can genuinely say
that I love You, Lord. Reveal my heart to me,
so I don’t have to stand before you a liar.

1 John 4:20

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

When You’re Not Yourself

From time to time you may feel overbooked,
and overworked simple things can become
troublesome, you feel like yelling
at the top of your lungs to find some relief
something feels off, and you’re not yourself,
but as time passes by, the frustration subsides
for a while, but this is actual life,
and the episode keeps repeating itself.

Dangling Chains

Poor attitudes have become prized
possessions these days; those chains
are dangling everywhere; everything
seems hopeless when it’s pitch black,
and that’s how some people live
their lives covered in darkness.

Frowning is the closest thing to a forced smile,
and that’s asking for too much kindness
—a piece of life gets sucked away
when negative energies hang around the light.

Up for Early Repair

Sometimes a smile is scarce,
you live life with a frown on your face,
opportunities pass you by, but you don’t
realize anything else outside of your bubble
because you’re unhappy. All you see are
the difficulties you are facing; everything around
you become a restriction to your freedom.
Simple tasks seem like a chore; you’re on
a roller coaster, and you don’t know how
to get off; you’re up for repair
earlier than expected this year.

Blood, Sweat, And Tears

Something must be going right in my life;
the devil works overtime in overdrive
to try to slow down my progress; my entire life
has been a terrible, heartbreakingly beautiful
and blessed mess; it’s a daily struggle
to maintain some level of sanity. God is worth
every drop of my blood, sweat, and tears;
I must be doing something right
to remain on his radar.
