You gotta’ have money
to go to most churches these days;
you gotta’ pay for everything you need:
prayers, healings, and blessings;
it’s all about the prosperity gospel.

I’m stuck in my head; these worries
of mine terrorizes me like a bully.

Before I respond with some sarcastic remark
or yell at the top of my lungs as I try
to explain my perfect reasoning
before I throw hurtful words like blocks
or shatter someone’s fragile feelings
before I rip someone’s beautiful heart out
with my inconsideration, I must first remember
to think before speaking
and to listen without interrupting.
