Labeled

Because of her faith in God, they called her crazy
and delusional; in a blink, they shipped her off
to the psych ward and placed her on
a suicide watch. Then immediately “diagnosed”
her with schizophrenia, bipolar, and some other
scientific name she cannot remember. Twenty-four
hours ago, she was perfectly fine; laughing, singing,
and having a good time with her family and friends
in her right mind—no history of mental health.

  1. I really like the ideas behind this poem and how it was delivered. There’s a lot of writing out there on mental health but this was refreshing in how it juxtaposed two viewpoints of a mind. Nicely done 🙂
