I’ve maintained a perfect distance
from everyone who has ever marinated
my life; friends, and foes alike; apart from
the occasional checking in; I stay to myself.

Life happened in a blink; I grew up
and had my own family and in the process,
a few friendships got buried in the thick dust
cloud of time. I moved on, and so did they
it’s sad to say, but we outgrew each other
and that’s what happened—it’s a two-way street.
