Miss Sunshine

Whispered voices, muffled sounds, she
hears crazy noises in her head; this woman
roams the streets spitting knowledge
in other people’s faces. But her wise words
get mistaken for gibberish when people see her,
they turn away and go another route with their
noses clogged up to drown out the stench.

This older woman is dirty with knots
in her hair; it hasn’t been combed or washed
in decades, not to mention her shredded dress
and unbearable body odor, and if anyone looks
a little closer, they’ll notice her bare feet, cracked
and caked in dirt. However, there’s always
a smile on her face, and she exuberates
a sense of stillness.

Sometimes it’s blank stares for days,
but people don’t know her story; what they see
on the outside is not who she is on the inside
something unspeakable happened to her
a long time ago; she was once young and vibrant,
a “normal” human being; brilliant, too
but no one remembers her like that.

Live Your Life

Do you struggle with other people’s
perceptions of you? If anyone should know
you best, it should be you, but it seems like
the entire world knows you better than you
know yourself based on the outrageous
things they suggest to help you
become your best version.

When you listen to other people’s opinions,
your self-esteem becomes all battered
and bruised; you become a product
of their insecurities. Their cuts and bruises
get carved in your skin, even if their
intentions are good; they’re ideas about
you are not your own; you are unique,
and destined for greatness.

What you think about yourself is more
important than what anyone else thinks,
don’t compare yourself to other people’s
show-business appearances. So continue
to do your thing, fail miserably, unscathed
by the dislikes of how you live your life;
their opinions of you do not matter.

Create Space

Learn to live; live to learn; no day is ever
as bad as it seems; reevaluate yourself
and your circumstances, after all the hype
dies down, make room for expansion.
Create space for your inner peace,
release the stress, recover your patience,
and nurture your dreams. As hard as
it seems, it’s your consistency that will
determine your durability.

Out of Words

I haven’t written in a while; I’m all out of
words, what more can I say? This blog is my
baby; I’ve spilled my life on these pages
I’ve been surfing in this water night and day
but I no longer feel inspired to write
but I’m going through a phase
writing is my gift.
