“Color” Blind

Is “black” just a color or a race of people?
White skin vs. dark skin, and every shade
in between; we’re all ONE race with different
skin tones. Most people see “color”
and nothing else, using that alone
to define a person, we’re all in the same boat
and bleed the same red blood—racism—
that one word has caused so much
controversy and debate, hatred,
and separation of the people.

In Jamaica, our motto is: “out of many one people”. What that means is, whether you are a black Jamaican, a white Jamaican, a Chinese Jamaican—we’re all Jamaicans. It’s not about the color of our skins (though racism, colorism, and classism still exist there).
