Private Mode
Keep your plans to yourself; be careful
who you tell your dreams; some people
will work 24/7 365 days to make sure
you don’t reach your potential, casting
spells on you like a voodoo priest
they’re afraid of your success.
People See Things Differently
I laugh every day though sometimes
it seems like I’m always sad to some
people; catch me in my “good,” light
and you’ll see the sparkle in my eyes.
Trading Places
Some people see perfection
when they look at me, they want to be
like me, and I see perfection
when I look at certain people; I wouldn’t
mind trading places with them.
The Hate Is Real
It’s hard to excel with some people
around; they will always find a way
to tear you down—the hate is real.
My Humble Self
Maintaining a humble appearance comes
naturally for me; I wasn’t built to carry
grudges; most people don’t understand why
I don’t retaliate when others do me wrong,
but it’s not something I can explain to folks.
Know Yourself
Everyone acts as if they know you
better than you know yourself; people
don’t have a problem telling you who
they think you are, but the final decision is
up to you; how well do you know yourself?
America, The Fallen
America has turned away from God
and will continue to suffer
the consequences of her actions.
Right is wrong, and wrong is right;
the blind leads the blind.
Painting Brighter Days
I am tearing out every unpleasant
page of shame out of my life’s book
and ripping them into nothingness
my book of shame has held me hostage,
for too long. I’m painting brighter days
with my newfound freedom.
Major Turnoff
I don’t need any negative people
in my life, no sugarcoating how poisonous
some people can be, primarily if they are
closely related. Toxicity of any caliber is
a major turnoff; I’ll pass—I value my peace.
Designer People
Every day, there’s a flock of designer people
flaunting everything they own, their mannequin
lives fit into designer purses and clothing
there’s nothing else to show for their “talents,”
these pawns have appearances to maintain
constant polishing and re-polishing for that
artificial shine; there’s never a dull moment
in their sparkling exteriors; every day is
a brand-new occasion to show off.
Get Unplugged
Most people would rather get drunk
on a lie rather than breathe freely
in the truth. I wonder why everything
works in reverse! The powers-to-be paint
lies with beautiful colors; their paintings are
accepted as truth and sold as
masterpieces to confuse the masses.
Get unplugged from the blind
leading the blind mentality, step out
of the assembly line, and walk away
from this messed up society the majority
loves and holds so dearly to their hearts.
Many have become too accepting
of things they know in their hearts
and minds are wrong; they keep jumping
on the manipulation bandwagon
because everyone else is doing it.
