A Distant Memory

A distant memory tugs at me,
pulling at my heart-strings,
strumming my heart
with the faint sound of his name
riding the wind like a surfer riding the waves.
I’d rather forget what I remember about him
but I remember clearly the way he made me feel
three blazing summers
and two terrible winters ago
