Movement of Change

Break every lock.
Break every chain.
Demolish every lie.
Tear down every wall.

It’s time for a movement of change.
This time, walk away unscathed.
Leave no unfinished business untouched,
no stories of the past untold,
uproot every rock;
turn every stone.

Enough damage has been done.
Enough permanent scars on one skin.
Stay away from war stricken streets,
bitter hungry, and paid abuse.

Keep the locks broken.
Don’t hide the truth,
don’t paint over dirty little secrets,
they will eventually crumble
under too much dead weight.

  1. Love this poem. This applies to some people in my life so much. I especially love the line “don’t paint over dirty little secrets”. Yes. That line sums up the poem. It might even do well at the end if you don’t mind the suggestion.
