Starry Eyes

Looking out,
she sees the life
she would like to live all around her.

The money,
cars,
houses,
vacations,
jewelry,
big bank accounts.

She only sees the glitz and glimmer
lighting up her eyes,
giving her the impression
that things are always sparkly
on the other side.

She has no idea
of the struggles,
prayers,
dedication,
perseverance,
faith,
frustrations,
backstabbing,
anger,
pain,
heartache
it took to get to
that point
of comfort and relaxation.

She just wants
what the next have
stored up in their storehouses.

Really she doesn’t care
how they got
what they have,
as long as
she can get
to the good life,
she’ll worry
about the rest later.
