Self Image

Plenty of days float by
with me on the scorching ground
picking up scraps of my self-image
off the asphalt,
projecting the continuous battle
between self-love and self-hate.

  1. It’s really the words “float,” “scraps,” and “asphalt” that make the abstract of your feelings more concrete and discernable. I like that aspect of this poem.

If I may, I would suggest one small revision. I think you can dispense with the word “up” in the third line as it does not add anything in terms of meaning or rhythm.
